Thank's Petunia!

Don't throw away your pennies! Almost a year ago, I bought a cute piggie bank whom Chris and I named "Petunia." While we were not always faithful to feed Petunia our change, we did manage to fill here up with lots of unwanted pennies and random pocketfuls of change. Tonight, we took here to the local Coinstar at Lowes Food to see our months of pennies and patient saving turn to cash. I wasn't expecting too much, and was pleasantly surprised to reap $36.91 from our piggy bank's belly!! While this may not seem like a huge feat, I was very excited about it. We are also on the "keep the change" program with Bank of America, and love to see our excess change turn into savings. I encourage you to save those unwanted pennies, they may pay off one day...For now, we decided to put our small reward in the "Piper Fund." God willing, we will be adding a new addition to our family in the next few months...a puppy named Piper:)

Ahhh Moving!

Day 3...officially out of our old place, new home-mildly chaotic. We are exhausted, sore, and happy homeowners. We certainly underestimated the amount of things to clean up at our old apt., and worked into the late hours of the night, again, wrapping everything up there. Is there an end in sight? This weekend will be a busy one..I am sooo glad its Friday:)!! Thankfully, overall I think we had it relatively easy...we have yet to accumulate years of furniture, ect., and it's just the two of us. I can't imagine having to move with children:/

We are so thankful to God for giving this incredible blessing and entrusting us as stewards of this new home.

Home Sweet Home

For the past few months, Chris and I have been in the crazy, overwhelming and exciting process of purchasing our first official townhome. Yesterday was the big closing/moving day(yes, all in one) I am happy to report that we made it, praise God! We are now officially homeowners :) As you can imagine, we are very busy with the move and up to our knees in boxes...so stay tuned for more adventures in moving, unpacking, organizing and most fun of all-decorating! We were so fortunate so have my parents help us with the move-thanks mom and dad, we couldn't have done it without you.

Our townhome is new construction, so it was fun to document its growth from the ground up(scrapbooking op....i think so!) Here are some pics from the journey.

Take me out to the ball game!

Chris and I were so excited to get a pair of tickets to the Durham Bulls game from a generous co-worker...and on firework night no less :) We had talked about going for a long time, and were very excited to finally get out there-our first baseball game together believe it or not! It was a good game, and we won 10-2 :) Not only did we have a great time at the game, but discovered a gem in downtown Durham's newest historic revitalization project-the American Tobacco District. All in all, a two thumbs up Friday night-even in 90plus degree weather!

Name Games

To start, the name game is by far my favorite car game. Names and their meanings have always been very interesting to me. You never know what great story hides behind a name, or what notable person a name was given in honor of...I think a lot of names that carry expectations too, like a child named after a virtue or a person that you hope they will grow up to model/embody with their lives. Anyways, I was inspired by my latest read to do a fun name game/word type activity with Chris. You simply spell out your name, and write down all the words you can make with the letters found in your name. The catch is that the words have to be descriptive and pertain to that person, in some way or another. When Chris and I did it, we also explained why we chose a certain word and how it related to each other. Pretty simple, but fun! Here are just a few of the words we came up with for eachother.

R E B E C C A S C O T T

Batter-as in cupcakes :)
Bares-as in carries

A New Look

Say goodbye to irritated eyes and flimsy contacts, and hello to glasses! Still getting used to the new look...figuratively and visually...I knew my prescription was outdated, but man! I feel like my vision has improved a million percent with these new lenses! I was a bit shocked at first at how much sharper and clearer everything appeared...I can't believe I was missing it all this time! Chris is also having fun with the new glasses, and keeps trying to make me say "these will be due back Tuesday," lol.
