If you give a boy a ball...

He is sure to want to play with it
He'll want to roll over it
and to throw it
Balls, trucks, cars, trains-it's a boys life!

See you later!

Bon voyage sister! Last week the little man and I took a trip to see Sam for a final goodbye, or as I like to say "see you later." She headed up and away for a European honeymoon with new husband Ryan and will soon be settling into her little own piece of England.
Part of me wonders how different we'll all look in our next photo together-how old Evan will be, whether or not we'll have another little person with us, or with them even! Maybe I'll be brave enough for the bob haircut by then, and I'm sure my sister will be sporting a new hair color. I wonder when we'll see each other again-if it will be a holiday occasion sometime soon, or perhaps a brief passing years down the line while in route to their next military home. Lining all these thoughts of course is my excitement for her and this new adventure she's set out on. I can't wait to hear of her travels and of all the merriment, magic and mishaps sure to come with new, married life.  See you later sister! Hopefully, sooner than. :-)

4th and friends

We had a nice, relaxing fourth of July after our whirlwind of a wedding weekend(complete with 3 hour nap-eek!). Our pastor's family had us over for their annual backyard barbeque and it was delicious! Thanks again for the great food and fellowship Childer's family!

I also included a picture from a recent Y pool trip with another one of our favorite families, the Brooks. We've enjoyed our fair share of the pool already to escape this hot summer, and this was an especially fun trip with the Brooks girls. Here is Evan pictured with his precious friend Emerson. We have since been to the pool a ton and it seems like Evan enjoys it more and more every time-a water whale he may be after all!

I do-a July Wedding

I can't believe the big day has come and gone already! This past weekend, on July 2nd, my little sister got hitched, married! We had such a fun weekend and the summer wedding was bright and beautiful. The wedding took place at the gorgeous River Landing country club in Wallace, NC. It was a fun adventure for us to get away for the big day and Chris and I warmly joked it felt a lot like a destination wedding-destination Wallace! It was also a wonderful time to get together with family we don't see often, and some even met our little man for the very first time!
The festivities started off with a delicious rehearsal dinner at the Mad Boar Restaurant, sandwiched by lots of last minute wedding details and table cloth pinning. :-)
Evan was the happiest little man this weekend(besides the groom maybe) and was the apple of many a young girl's eye(plus grandma's and aunties of course)! Sam's fiance Ryan is one of 8, and all of his many sisters adored our sweet boy. He had so much fun over the whole weekend and was so good-I couldn't be a prouder mommy!
Saturday was spent with finishing touches, golfing, poolside fun, a parade of pictures and hairspray galore. The ceremony was at 5:30 and well, I'll let the pictures tell the rest.
Beauty in blue
Welcome to the family Ryan! We had a great time at the wedding and are so thankful to all those who made it a success(mom!). Samantha was a beautiful princess bride and we are so happy for the new Mr. and Mrs.! :-)
